Social Media – Help Wanted!

The BB Houston Tech Squad is here! We have branched out more fully into social media. We need managers for Twitter, Instagram, a Facebook page, and LinkedIn. If you would like to represent us on a social media platform that is not listed here, please contact me and we will add you to the group!

We need you!

What you will get from volunteering your social media services to the Beta Beta Houston chapter:

1) You’ll receive personalized leadership mentoring. We can discuss/agree on the terms.
2) You’ll get non-voting membership on the Beta Beta Houston Board of Directors’ Publicity Committee. You add that to your resume or CV. You will be an official BBHouston Tech Squad member. You can also be part of creating this group by consensus with the other group members.
3) You will help design how this committee is organized. You will learn about leadership and governance and about other things like computer programming and cyber security, if interested.
4) Your work will be recognized by the chapter for your service each year.

Chapter President Welcome Message

Wy
I am grateful to all of the members of the Honor Society of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau Beta Beta Houston Chapter for this opportunity to serve as your president. My goal for the organization is to learn the ways in which we can engage each other in new and exciting ways through, for example, service projects, leadership and mentorship programs, and poster and educational workshops. I hope we can find novel ways to collaborate in our practice, community, and/or service settings.

My motto: Where there are two or more nurses, good things happen.

Currently we have almost 400 active members from all areas of Houston and Greater Houston including Harris, Katy, Pearland, Richmond, Cypress, Conroe, Spring, Kingwood, Sugarland, League City, etc. We also have members from other areas of Texas including: Austin, Rosharon, Porter, Damon, Anahuac, LaPorte, Eugene, Carrolton, and College Station to name a few. We also have a handful of members now living in other states! With our members spread across the map, we need to find ways that we can use technology effectively to work together.

I am grateful for the strong Board of Directors who will be working with us.  I believe we will learn much from Anne Koci, President Elect and from Dianne Montgomery, Vice President. I am excited to work with Lee McWilliams as she assumes the position of secretary. Rebecca Aulbach is an exceptional treasurer who definitely knows how we need to use our monetary resources. Counselor Leslie Nelson and her team had an exceptional year of bringing new members to our organization.

In addition to our board, we have several members who have taken leadership roles including Mary Anne Vincent (Web Master), Sheranda Fesler (Leadership Succession Chair), Sandy Cesario (Research Chair), Adrian Melissinos (Archivist), Paula Clutter (Counselor), Brenda Binder (Awards Chair), and Olinda Johnson (Leadership Succession Committee member). You will be hearing frequently from Angelle Rhemann, our Membership Involvement Chair. As the terms to these positions expire, we need you – our members – to seriously consider one of these positions!

Our organization is a strong, positive, and dynamic force that has the capacity to engage all members in activities that will enhance each of us and the profession of nursing. I hope I have the opportunity to meet many of you in person or by email (sttibbwebmaster@gmail.com will forward them). I would be honored to hear from you!

Cynthia Hickman Dr. Cynthia J. Hickman, Nutritional Health Expert & Nurse Educator, was the keynote speaker for Texas A&M AgriLife Service for Fort Bend County Daycare Conference on April 29, 2017, in Rosenberg Texas. The topic was on nutritional health in the daycare setting. Did you know some children spend 8-12 hours in the daycare environment? That means breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are served to the children. This conference was an opportunity to reinforce the important role Daycare Advocates have regarding the nutritional health of our children by promoting and practicing healthy food choice.
